The national online event entitled “Cultural Heritage as a springboard for entrepreneurship”, organized on November 29, 2021 by the DAISSy research group of the Hellenic Open University, with the support of the association “Hippocrates in Larissa” was successfully completed.
The event was attended by many guest speakers from the city of Larissa, who represented the field of culture, tourism and business and had the opportunity to present strategies, training programs and examples of good business practices in the promotion and utilization of the cultural inventory and in strengthening the tourism product.
The event was addressed to cultural professionals, managers in the field of culture and tourism, vocational education and training providers, business consultants, managers of small and medium enterprises in culture and tourism, decision makers, representatives of municipalities and cultural associations as well as students and graduates in culture and tourism and kept the interest of the participants undiminished for several hours.
Ms. Panagiota Polymeropoulou, Researcher at the EUHeritage project, in the DAISSy Research Group – Hellenic Open University, presented the EUHeritage project and the MOOC online training program developed and provided within the project, attracting more than 1000 enrollments from around the world and with a significant percentage of successful completion of the course by the Greek side. In her speech entitled “Culture, Tourism and Entrepreneurship through the EUHeritage project” she stressed the high interest that Greece has always shown, for training programs and lifelong learning on issues of management, promotion and exploitation of cultural heritage as well as issues concerning archeology and museums.
The EUHeritage project colleague and trainer – moderator of the national pilot, Ms. Zoe Akrivouli, Economist-Business and Development Consultant, Researcher DAISSy Research Group- Hellenic Open University, spoke about the pilot program which has been completed at the national level for Greece and the practical learning and training of the tool “Experience design canvas for culture and tourism professionals in Greece”.
The event was greeted with enthusiasm by the local media from the city of Larissa, with posts and press releases about the event, emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in culture and tourism. We would like to thank all the invited speakers for their interesting presentations as well as the participants for their support. A certificate of participation was sent to all those registered on the form.
